Meet the 2010 Riverbend Festival Interns

The Riverbend Festival is proud to have a great crew of interns to help us produce the Festival this year. The staff of Friends of the Festival works year round to create the best festival experience for the nearly 600,000 people attending each year. We offer the opportunity for college juniors and seniors to fulfill their internship hours with us. We have openings for (but no limited to) Communications/Marketing/PR majors, Business majors and Advertising Arts majors. Interns are needed year-round and the hours are flexible.

Many of our past interns have moved on to career positions through contacts made during their internships with Friends of the Festival. The best description of the Friends of the Festival Intern Experience is “interning at Friends of the Festival is the hardest work you will ever love”.

Here's a little about our intern staff, in their own words.

2010 Riverbend Festival Interns:

Casey

I am currently a senior Communications student at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I couldn’t be more excited to be graduating in August and starting a career in Public Relations or Marketing.Naturally, I chose Friends of the Festival’s Public Relations department to intern with because I have been an avid Riverbend goer for the past 15 years and I love to interact with people. In my free time, I can be found boating with my friends or supporting Chattanooga’s local music scene. I’m so excited about what Riverbend has in store for Chattanooga this summer!

Megan

I am a senior at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, majoring in Communication and minoring in Spanish. I am from Chickamauga, GA. I want to complete this internship in order to gain experience in the field of Public Relations, and I feel that interning with Friends of the Festival is a great way to incorporate public relations with event planning.

Whitney

My interest in Riverbend for the past 11 years drew me to become an intern for the Festival. I only have one semester left at Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY where I play volleyball. I am a Business Administration major with a focus on Marketing and I minor in Sociology. Photography is one of my biggest passions, as well as animals since I have about eight, and boating on the Tennessee River. I was born in NC but now reside in Ooltewah, TN where I have lived with my parents and brother for the past 12 years. I’m really looking forward to the Riverbend Festival beginning this year!

Jama

As a recent graduate from the DeVos Sport Business Management Program at the University of Central Florida, I am blessed to be back in the Volunteer State with the opportunity to intern at Friends of the Festival. Participating in the behind the scenes planning of one of the Southeast’s biggest events has been such a great learning experience already. My education and past internships have given me a love for event planning and marketing. However, the staff at Friends of the Festival, ensure that I continue to grow my knowledge in this area everyday to prepare me for a healthy career in the future. Like many, Riverbend has been a part of my summertime fun for many years, but I am excited to see it in a new light this June!
